Yummy sea food beyond prawns

For most people seafood is limited to eating prawns. "Oh, I love seafood" would normally mean the person loves to eat a sea fish, prawns or shrimps. Mention lobsters, crab, scampi, scallops, mussels etc and the reaction in most cases is a shudder. However, for people living near the coast eating a lobster or even a crab is like eating chicken for Delhiites. This of course does not mean that Delhiites don't want to experiment with their so-called limited 'seafood' cuisine. In all probability eating lobster/crab amounts to wanting to eat beef. Everybody wants to eat it but, something holds them back. While eating beef has a religious connotation, there is no such apprehension associated with seafood - just simple hesitation. With the intention to remove this hesitation that Hyatt's La Piazza has been offering crustacean promotion in the second half of August.
Says Chef Wladimiro Gadioli, "We want to offer our guests a truly unique experience of eating sea food. We did a lot of research not just with what dishes to offer but, also with regard to the freshness of the seafood. We had to ensure that we got a regular supply of the best quality of seafood. We prefer to tell the guest that we are out of a particular dish rather than serve them stale seafood." One definitely can't find fault with the freshness. Gamberetti in insalata (shrimps, dry ricotta, rucola, orange olive oil dressing) is excellent. This dish would find many takers. After all shrimps is something that most are familiar with. The orange olive oil dressing has a punch to it. It adds to otherwise sweet and dry taste of the shrimps and ricotta.
For those who want to be a little most adventurous and trying seafood for the first time Aragosta ed asparagi (steamed lobster, asparagus served with white tomato soup) would be the right choice. The cool white tomato soup - (tomato consommé) which is basically tomato essence is something that most would never have tasted. It is cool, fresh and rejuvenates you. For those eating lobster for the first time, the meat looks like fish but tastes like prawn. Another point o keep in mind is that people prefer the taste of the meat and therefore, there is an overwhelming taste of the meat itself. This dish is certainly not for those who love to have lots of masala-mirchi in their food. Karhai chicken this is not.
For prawn lovers there is ravioli e gamberoni (tiger prawns ravioli, prosecco bisque reduction). It is full of flavour and delicious. The good part of seafood is that it is light and despite eating a lot of it, one never feels the heaviness.
