Hotel Free Night Offers

An additional holiday travel incentive, beyond cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms, is being offered by several hotel chains; namely the ability to earn free nights stays.
The following is just a few examples of hotels encouraging guests to stay in order to qualify for bonus free nights:
* By staying at a Country Inns & Suites hotel Sunday through Thursday by November 21st guests receive an instant bonus of 15,000 points in the chain's GoldPoints Plus loyalty program. This bonus alone equates to a free night's stay. To qualify for this offer, reservations must be made three days in advance.
* Hyatt is offering packages that include a free night at 21 Hyatt hotels around the U.S. for visits now through the end of the year. At the Hyatt Key West Resort & Spa by staying three nights your fourth night is free. A free room upgrade and free daily breakfast for two is also included in this promotion.
* The Westin is promoting a free third night after guests pay for two nights at a Westin hotel in the U.S., Canada, or Aruba. Stay for four nights at some hotels and two nights are free. The offer covers guests arriving on a Wednesday through Saturday through the end of this year. To qualify, reservations must be prepaid with no changes or cancellations allowed.
* At Wyndham stay three consecutive nights at many (note, not all) of their properties and get a fourth night free. Participating resorts include many in the U.S., Caribbean and Mexico.

Airports Offering Flu Shots
As much as frequent fliers appreciate cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms, they are always on the look-out for whatever might save them time. Now instead of having to make a doctor's appointment to get a flu shot, many large U.S. airports are offering flu shots.
One passenger at New York's JFK airport recently received his flu shot after having landed on a flight from Chicago and commented "getting a flu shot while running through the airport seemed pretty cool." Convenience was mentioned by several travelers electing to receive flu shots.
The first airport to give flu shots was Chicago's O'Hare International airport eight years ago. This fall airport flu shots are being offered at clinics and temporary kiosks at over twenty airports ranging from Los Angeles to Miami.
Experts estimate that flu costs Americans in excess of $3 billion annually in medical fees and indirect costs such as missed work. When the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport announced that it would open three vaccination stations it commented "Making vaccinations available at the airport ensures that even the busiest travelers can take steps to stay healthy and productive."
The 2010-2011 flu season officially commenced in early October and is expected to peak in January or February, with the possibility of stretching into the spring. Everyone six months or older is recommended to receive the vaccination.
Frequent hand washing, covering your nose and mouth when sneezing, and trying to avoid close contact with sick people lessens the likelihood of getting the flu. However, experts believe that the wisest course of action for travelers wishing to avoid the flu is to get a flu shot.
