From a business trip next week get-a-way, the personal security and safety to be on your mind. This can be especially challenging when your flight is delayed, the taxi line never ends and all you want to do is park, check in and get to your room as quickly as possible. But wait ... Take time today to think about your safety with these easy but life protecting tip ...

Checking in. ..
- If valet parking is available, use it. If not, park at the lobby door and ask for an escort to the hotel parking lot or garage. A little tip for the person helping you is well worth to protect your safety.
- Travel to the many parks in the most safest space possible. Check that no loitering and where you park is well lit. Try to park as close to the lobby as possible.
- Get all personal items, laptops, electronic devices, money or other valuables before or valet park your car. Take these items with you or lock them in the trunk.

- Ask the front desk assistant to write code in your room, never said aloud to the audience to hear what the room is in.
- Ask the hotel staff about security for jogging nearby or walking from the hotel to nearby restaurants, theaters or the parking lot. - Check the windows and the room doors are locked.
- Use all locks on your door every time you're in your room, especially the dead bolt, check the lock or chain at night.
- Place all valuables in the safe room and make sure it is bolted to the floor. Do not leave jewelry, credit cards or cash lying around the room.
- When someone knocks on your door, do not open it immediately. Keep the door closed and use the peephole and ask people to identify themselves. If you do not know them, do not open the door. If they claim that the hotel staff or security, call down to reception to check the hotel sent them. If their story does not check out and no reason for people to be there, tell them to go away and then let the front desk.
- Consider purchasing a portable room alarm. They can stay in the door handle, or a floor device that sounds an alarm if your hotel door is opened.
- Always leave the "Do Not Disturb" tag at the door.
- When leaving put lights and TV or radio on so you know, there is no room left and there is none.
- If you lose your key, report it immediately to the reception at the hotel and ask to be moved to another room.
- Immediately report any suspicious activity to staff at the Hotel.
When you check out ...
- Search your property to ensure that all forms of ID are safe and without losing personal information here.
- Request an escort to your car in the garage or lot.
- Check the inside of the car before getting in.
